What is EFT and how can it support you?

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, or tapping for short) involves self-applied tapping on acupressure points on the face, hands and upper body. It involves tapping these points while talking, and can support the exploration of underlying emotional patterns. If you find it hard to talk about your emotions, that’s ok too — we can work more gently through the body using tapping, with less focus on verbalising everything.

Conscious or subconscious thoughts from your past can trigger the brain to activate the fight, flight or freeze response. This may be felt as a racing heart, shaking, panicked breathing, an uneasy stomach, or experienced as overthinking or worry.

The gentle tapping sends a signal to the amygdala, the part of the brain involved in the fight, flight or freeze response, and can help the nervous system feel safer.
